Accountability Courts

Our Mission

It is the mission of our accountability court programs to provide alternatives to incarceration for those individuals whose criminal involvement is directly related to substance use and/or mental health issues. Our programs strive to hold offenders accountable for their actions by bringing about a behavioral change that reduces criminal recidivism and provides the tools and resources necessary to address substance use and mental health issues. We strive to protect the public, to treat victims of offenders in a fair, just way, and to educate the public as to the benefits of accountability court programs for the communities that they serve.

About Us

Treatment Services is the agency that oversees multiple programs in the Northeastern Judicial Circuit. We impact the lives of thousands in Hall and Dawson Counties each year through Drug Court, DUI Court, the H.E.L.P. Program (Mental Health Court), Family Treatment Court, Parental Accountability Court, Veterans Court, Substance Abuse Services, and the Drug Screening Laboratory, as well as the Dawson County Treatment Court and Dawson County Family Treatment Court . These problem-solving court programs provide substance abuse and mental health treatment to individuals caught in the revolving door of the justice system. In addition to providing a meaningful alternative to incarceration to the participants and a significant cost savings to taxpayers, our programs give participants a chance for rehabilitation and the tools to become healthy, productive members of society.

Confidentiality

Because we provide counseling and drug screening services, Treatment Services follows confidentiality guidelines from three entities: Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), 42 C.F.R. Part 2 (the federal regulations governing the confidentiality of substance abuse disorder treatment records), and State law. Therefore, we cannot confirm or discuss an individual’s participation in any of our programs without his/her written authorization.
