A courtroom overflowing with friends and supporters observed the formal swearing-in of Lindsay H. Burton as the Northeastern Judicial Circuit's newest Superior Court Judge on December 30, 2022. Retiring Judge C. Andrew Fuller administered the oath of office, after Judge Burton was introduced by her youngest son, West Burton. Her 4-year term of office officially began January 1st.

Judge Burton was elected to the Superior Court bench in 2022, after previously serving as a Juvenile Court Judge since 2013. As Chief Juvenile Court Judge, Judge Burton represented the circuit at the Court Improvement Initiative Conferences and served on the Executive Committee for the Council of Juvenile Court Judges. She continues to serve on the Justice for Children committee.

Prior to joining the bench, Judge Burton worked as the Chief Assistant District Attorney in the Northeastern Judicial Circuit's District Attorney's Office. During her thirteen years there, she took on many of the most challenging cases involving juvenile victims of sexual and physical abuse, and tried more than one hundred jury trials.

Superior Court is Georgia's general jurisdiction trial court, handling both civil and criminal law actions. In addition to her ordinary caseload, Judge Burton will also preside over the circuit's Parental Accountability Court and a portion of the re-entry REACT Court.

Judge Burton received her undergraduate degree from Penn State University and her Juris Doctorate from Villanova University Law School. She has been married to her husband, Bonner Burton, for more than nineteen years. Along with their two boys, they have made Gainesville their home.

The Northeastern Judicial Circuit is part of Georgia's Ninth Judicial Administrative District, which serves Dawson and Hall Counties, and is comprised of five Superior Court Judges. Judge Burton joins Chief Judge Kathlene F. Gosselin, Judge Bonnie Chessher Oliver, Judge Jason J. Deal, and Judge Clint G. Bearden.
