NORTHEASTERN JUDICIAL CIRCUIT
Announcement

March 23, 2023

Dawson County Chief Magistrate Anthony Tarnacki has officially resigned from his office per a letter dated March 8, 2023.  As he is in the middle of his elected term, Georgia code section 15-10-20(d) requires that the Superior Court judges appoint his replacement to complete his term of office.  The next election will be the Primary and General Election schedule for 2024.

We will be considering applications until April 3, 2023 at 5 pm.  Please send letters of interest with supporting resume to Ms. Sandy Harkins, at sharkins [at] hallcounty.org.

OCGA 15-10-22 sets the minimum qualifications for a Magistrate.  The fact that Chief Magistrate Tarnacki was an experienced lawyer proved very helpful to the citizens of Dawson County.  Thus, we would prefer qualified applicants to be members in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.
